We live in a day and age where knowledge is at our fingertips. The days of going to a library to find the encyclopedia to learn about a certain topic is way past us. When you are faced with a difficult question or situation, you are able to find answers in seconds. This is greatly beneficial to those who are searching for help during recovery.
Getting clean is a very private situation for most people. The negative stigma of addiction is alive and well in the world and getting clean is usually something that you want to do with the least amount of people knowing your business. So what do you do if you have questions but do not want anyone to know about your addiction? The internet can be a valuable tool to help during your recovery, and Youtube is a great place to start.
I originally started my first Youtube Channel named “FreeFromHell” after my social network. I still remember sitting in front of the camera for the first time and being very nervous. I had no clue what I was doing, and thought that no one would ever watch my videos. After being viewed hundreds of thousands of times, I have come to realize that overcoming the fear of making a video has made a great impact on many people's lives.
On the CalmSupport Youtube channel, I do my very best to educate people to the best of my ability. A lot of the information that is in the videos are from real-life questions I get from people that I help on a daily basis via emails, phone calls and text messages. It is important to keep in mind that much of the content on my videos is my own opinion from talking with thousands of people over the years. You are not going to like everything I have to say and that is ok, but I do my best to be honest and open with my viewers.
Watching videos of addicts and recovering addicts can be very therapeutic. You can hear what they went through and how they survived. It lets you know that you are not alone in your fight to get clean. Most importantly though, be careful with some of the information out there because not everything people say is correct. It is important to research the information that you see on Youtube before you implement it into your life, especially if the person is not a Medical Doctor or healthcare professional.
Please take a moment to check out our Youtube channel.
